So delighted that my Kittiwake image has been awarded the Silver Medal for the Wreck Category in the underwaterphotography.com competition.
The largest and longest running International online competition is Underwater Photography's most coveted accolade because it says you succeeded in the most competitive environment there is, against the top talent of the moment.
Every year a panel of judges select the best images entered in our online photo contest from the previous year. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded for the top three from each category in order of merit.
The picture was taken in Grand Cayman, May 2012, whilst on a photography workshop with Martin Edge.We did three dives on her, to take advantage of this photogenic ship, but the image was taken within my first five shots. Sylvia Edge, the diver in the shot, found the perfect spot to model, giving the the image a great perspective of scale.
